Once shy and reserved, Hillie now confidently engages with others and takes responsibility on the farm. She enjoys hobbies such as horse riding, attending Abba tribute bands, and going to the theater, all of which have helped her further build confidence and social skills.

When Ategi first began supporting Gina, she was very anxious and didn't like going out into the community when there were people around. Though she has always been a sociable individual, Gina was initially wary of others. Now, however, it’s hard to keep Gina in—she goes everywhere with staff and her friend, something she never used to do.

Wendy has been supported by Grazelda for 24 years, since she was 8 years old. When Wendy turned 18 she asked to live with Grazelda and she's very much part of the family.

The bond they have formed with Josh the has become an integral part of their life. “We’ve shared countless moments of joy, from celebrating birthdays to simply enjoying quiet evenings together. Those memories are priceless,”

Faith plays a central role in Chif’s life and the life he shares with his Shared Lives carer, Liz. Despite being told he would never read, Chif has defied expectations. He now reads from a Dyslexic New Testament daily, selecting passages that resonate with him. His reading journey has even expanded to include Paddington Bear.

The ladies supported are involved in a variety of activities, which have significantly boosted their confidence and social skills. They participate in self-defence classes, where they’ve earned belts, joined clubs such as Morris dancing and Zumba, and engage in community events.

By the time Shirley came to Ty Cornel she was very frail from drinking so much without eating anything for so long. Whilst living at Ty Cornel the support staff helped her take control of her life. After 20 years of doing drink and drugs, she finally feels like she can stop drinking and is now sober and very happy.

Before Shared Lives Annalise found maintaining a healthy and secure lifestyle tricky. However, with Carol’s support and encouragement, she has improved massively. Together, they worked through obstacles, and Annalise found the guidance and motivation she needed to make positive changes in her life.
