Ategi Celebrates Excellent Care Rating from Care Inspectorate Wales

We’re absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news — Ategi has been awarded an Excellent rating by the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) for our Supported Living and Community Support services. This recognition is a true reflection of the passion, dedication and innovation shown by our amazing teams every single day. 

The inspection, completed on 21st February 2025, highlighted excellent outcomes for people using our services. From meaningful relationships between support workers and the people we support, to innovative ways of helping individuals live independently and thrive, the report praised it all. 

Real People, Real Impact 

So many of the people we support told inspectors just how life-changing our care has been: 

It’s changed my life around completely.

I feel like part of a family — safe, happy and secure.

Families also shared heartfelt feedback: 

They’ve changed our loved one’s life from a time of trouble to thriving… Everything about it is great.

The communication is fantastic — I’ve never had that before. They keep us involved every step of the way.

We know that trust and connection are at the heart of great care — and many of our support workers have been supporting the same individuals for years. That kind of long-term relationship makes a real difference in helping people feel truly supported. 

Our Team: The Heart of Ategi 

One of the things the inspectors highlighted was how passionate and committed our support workers are. Many have worked with Ategi for over ten or even twenty years, which means people get to build lasting relationships with support workers who really understand them . 

Our team doesn’t just do the basics — they go above and beyond, often offering extra kindness and support that goes far beyond what’s expected. Whether it’s helping someone take their first steps toward independence or simply being there when someone needs a listening ear, our support workers make sure everyone feels valued. 

As one member of the team said:

And another added: 

The whole team are amazing.

From shadowing experienced colleagues during training to regular supervision and development opportunities, our support workers are well-supported so they can offer the best possible care . 

Innovation in Action 

What really sets Ategi apart is our commitment to innovation. We don’t just follow the rules — we look for new and creative ways to help people live their best lives with person-centred care at the heart of how we support people. 

We run the People Forum, where those using our services can have a say in how things are run. Through the Ategi Wellbeing Fund, people can apply for small grants to help achieve personal goals — whether that’s trying a new hobby, going on a trip, or buying something special. 

Our support plans are detailed, flexible and tailored to each person’s unique needs and interests. Support workers work closely with individuals to create structured activity plans that help them grow, learn and connect with their communities. 

Strong Leadership, Clear Vision 

Kate Allen, Ategi's CEO, leads with a clear vision — putting people at the heart of everything we do. They maintain close contact with the people we support and regularly visit to ensure standards stay high. 

Robust systems are in place to monitor quality and safety, and staff are encouraged to speak up and share ideas. With regular training, open communication and a supportive culture, our team feels confident and empowered in their roles. 

Looking Ahead 

This latest recognition from CIW shows that we're doing something very right — but we won’t stop here. We’ll keep working hard to provide warm, person-centred care that helps people live happy, independent lives.
