At Ategi, we believe everyone deserves the right support to live fulfilling lives.

A Shared Lives Panel Volunteer is a trained volunteer who helps decide whether Shared Lives carers meet Ategi’s standards. They read assessment documents, join online panel meetings, and contribute their views so decisions are fair and consistent. The role involves discussing cases with other panel members, maintaining confidentiality, and staying up to date with policies and training.

Who We’re Looking For

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have experience in social care, Shared Lives, or supporting people with additional needs, or
  • Are a seasoned professional wanting to stay connected to the sector and share your expertise.
  • Are studying for a Master’s or PhD in a related field and want valuable professional experience, or
  • Are a trainee social worker or early-career professional building your knowledge.

Whether you’re a student, early-career professional, or someone with years of experience looking to give back—this role offers something meaningful for everyone.

Main tasks

  1. Read and review carer assessment documents and re-approval reviews
  2. Take part in panel discussions and share your views
  3. Help decide whether carers meet Ategi's standards
  4. Maintain confidentiality and follow our Code of Conduct
  5. Take part in training and stay up to date with relevant policies.

Time commitment

  • Around one morning per month or less, sometimes every other month
  • Meetings run approximately 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Remote - all meetings are online

This flexible role fits easily around other commitments, studies, or part-time work.
